Ron Paul is a dangerous man [I guess this is how we characterize anyone who stands up for traditional American values]. While his domestic libertarian views are quite attractive to some voters fed up with politics as usual, it is Paul’s position on issues of our national security that are truly dangerous.
Those views have been largely overlooked by a news media [Overlooked? This is all I ever hear about Ron Paul!!] more interested in the presidential “horse race” than in the candidates’ positions on issues. But we expect New Hampshire primary voters will examine the facts and act accordingly.
A Wall Street Journal columnist notes that Paul is “a leading spokesman for, and recycler of, the long and familiar litany of charges that point to the United States as a leading agent of evil and injustice, the militarist victimizer of millions who want only to live in peace.” [I dare anyone to look at the history of the US, which is constant interference in other sovereign governments and tell me that we don't interfere with them. Then when we are done with them, we kill them - e.g., Saddam, Hussein, Osama bin Laden, Manuel Noriega, etc.]
Perhaps this warped [?] view is why Paul believes that al-Qaida terrorists caught in the United States ought to be treated as common criminals, not enemy combatants. He wants them read Miranda rights to which they are not entitled and he wants them tried and sentenced in civil courts rather than by military tribunals. [Total mischaracterization. Ron Paul said that American citizens should be given their rights, e.g. Anwar al-Awlaki, an American born citizen who was murdered by the United States with no charge, trial or conviction.]
This is nothing short of nuts. What is needed to competently fight a war, and al-Qaida is indeed at war with us [if al-Qaida is at war with us, then why is every American citizen also a suspect? And if we are not suspects, why are all our rights being taken away?], is the ability to gather information [by stripping every American citizen of their Constitutional rights?]. Telling the enemy that it has a “right to remain silent” is absurd. [The problem is they are telling us, American citizens, that we have no "right to remain silent."]
Paul believes that if a U.S. citizen throws in with al-Qaida or associated groups overseas, where he plots American death and destruction, we need to somehow find him, arrest him, and bring him back to stand civil trial here rather than eliminate him, even if that is the only option. [Sorry, but that is what the Constitution says.]
We are in a much different kind of war than we have ever faced [yea, a war with no enemy (everyone is the enemy) and one that will never end], but Paul doesn’t see it [neither do I nor millions of other Americans]. He has repeatedly said that U.S. aggression is responsible for 9-11 and other attacks on America from radical jihadists. [And why is Iran now threatening to block the Gulf? Could it have something to do with our threatening them? Just maybe?]
He has repeatedly said that we should allow Iran to continue to develop a nuclear weapon. This is the same country whose leadership vows death to America, the “Satanic power,” and who wants Israel wiped from the map. [Seems we have heard this story before, when it was so imperative that we invade Iraq to stop all the weapons of mass destruction there. If they were wrong then, how do we know they are right now? Why should we believe them?]
Never mind Paul being the favored candidate of the lunatic fringe (see white supremacists, anti-Semites, truthers, etc.) [this man has just insulted a large portion of the American population. But I guess that's okay]. Never mind his refusal to disavow a third-party run (which would only help President Obama’s reelection). [Why should he satisfy people who constantly insult him by agreeing not to run as a third-party candidate? What does he owe them?]
His defenders say they admire Ron Paul’s “consistency.” It is true, Paul has been consistently spouting this nonsense. It is about time New Hampshire voters showed him the door. [I think that people like you have already shown the door to all Americans and to America itself and everything this country is founded on. Let's listen to you and keep electing people who want to take away more and more of our freedoms and put us into more and more wars]
I can only repeat - do not trust the Mainstream Media. They are manipulated and controlled and tell you only what they want you to hear. Question everything that comes from any source in the MSM.
