The Patriarch of Lisbon criticises ‘Masonic influence in politics’

All of the men pictured here, including John Wayne,
Harry Truman, Franklin Roosevelt, Charles Lindbergh,
George Washington and Theodore Roosevelt,
were 32nd Degree Freemasons
In 1917, when Our Lady appeared to the three shepherd children in Fatima, Portugal, she warned that Russia must be consecrated to her immaculate heart.  In the third apparition of Our Lady in Fatima, on July 13, 1917, Our Lady warned that if man does not:
stop offending God, another even worse war will begin in the reign of Pius XI… To prevent it [the war], I will come to ask for the consecration of Russia to my Immaculate Heart and the Communion of reparation on the first Saturdays. If they listen to my requests, Russia will convert and there will be peace; if not, it will spread its errors throughout the world, promoting wars and persecutions of the Church. The good will be martyred; the Holy Father will have much to suffer, and several nations will be annihilated.
The errors of Russia, which is most specifically atheistic communism, have spread throughout the world.  Our Lady told us that the only way to avoid the errors of Russia being spread throughout th world was by consecrating Russia to her Immaculate Heart, as quoted above.  Russia was not consecrated to Mary's Immaculate Heart, and as she predicted, WWII broke out during the reign of Pope Pius XI, a greater and much more destructive war than the "Great War," WWI.  There were 35 million military and civilian casualities in WWI, more than the world had ever seen, but just a little over 20 years later, as predicted by Our Lady, WWII began in which it is estimated that 60 million people were killed, which was 2.5% of the entire world's population.  Also in this war, nuclear weapons were introduced, now making it possible to annihilate the entire world.

It is now 2012, and though our Lady specifically asked that Russia be consecrated to her immaculate heart no later than 1960, the consecration still has not been done.  Therefore, the errors of atheistic Russia have continued to spread around the world, wreaking untold havoc and misery on mankind.  Joseph Stalin of the USSR is said to have killed 20 million people, with some estimates as high as 60 million.  China's Mao Zedong is estimated to have killed anywhere from 49 million to 78 million people, plus countless hundreds of millions more killed through China's mandatory one-child law, which results in the abortion of 35,000 babies every day.  There are the terrible wars and manmade famines throughout Africa, the killings in Cambodia by Pol Pot of 1.7 million people.  The atrocities go on, ad nauseum.  And there is no end in sight.  I onced heard a priest say that Satan always demands humand sacrifice.  We are certainly supplying him with more sacrifices than he probably thought possible.

Below is an article from Vaticaninsider.com concerning The Archbishop of Lisbon, Cardinal José da Cruz Policarpo, in which he describes how Masonry influences politics.  The reason I bring up the warning of Fatima along with this article is because they are at heart one and the same.  Masonry is belief in salvation through man, which is exactly what communism preaches, the errors of Russia.  When you read this article, keep this in mind.

Cardinal Policarpo accuses Masonic lodges of dictating government agendas
The Archbishop of Lisbon, Cardinal José da Cruz Policarpo, never ceases to amaze. In an interview last summer with the monthly magazine “Ordem dos Advogados” in which he spoke about female priesthood, he aired his views once again, this time on Freemasons. On this occasion, however, his views seem to be shared by the Vatican where no one complained about his declarations. “The Freemasons,” he said “have a direct influence in politics.” From the sanctuary of Our Lady of Fatima, Cardinal José Policarpo criticised the power Masons exert over national and international politics. This is not an isolated cry, the word ‘Freemasonry’ is often mentioned in the Catholic Church, either in the loud accusations of the Catholic mass-media or whispered in the Vatican’s Sacred Palaces. From the viewpoint of the Magisterium, the teaching authority of the Catholic Church, the crucial date as far as Freemasonry is concerned was the 26th of November 1983. On that date the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith published a statement on Masonic societies. Since the beginning, the negative attitude of the Church towards the Freemasons has been motivated by many practical and doctrinal reasons. The Church didn’t simply find the Masons guilty of subversive activities against the Church, but ever since the very first papal documents written on the matter, especially the Enciclica "Humanum Genus" by Leone XIII (20th of April 1884), the Magisterium has also accused the Freemasons of having philosophical and moral ideas in direct contrast with Catholic doctrine. Leo XIII thought these Masonic ideas originated from a naturalistic rationalism that inspired plotting and actions against the Church. In his letter to the Italian people entitled ‘Custodi’ (Guardians) (8th of December 1892) Leo XIII wrote: “Let us remember that Christianity and Freemasonry are incompatible, to join one is to relinquish the other.” The ‘anathema’ Joseph Ratzinger, guardian of religious orthodoxy, pronounced against Freemasonry does not come as a surprise.

The Church however could not avoid taking into consideration the Freemasons’ views in regards to religious doctrine since between 1970 and 1980 the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith was corresponding with various national conferences of bishops who had a particular interest in the issue, because of the dialogue that had begun between some important Catholic figures and the representatives of some Masonic lodges who declared themselves not opposed to the Church, but actually in favour of it. In 1983 it was time for an organic statement. A deep study of the matter led the former Holy Office to be even more resolved in its belief that there was a basic incompatibility between the principles of the Freemasonry and those of the Christian faith. Setting aside the actual attitude of the different lodges, whether or not hostile to the Church, the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith with its declaration of the 26th of November 1983 intended to deal with the deeper and ultimately essential part of the problem, the clash of principles in terms of faith and ethics. From this theoretical and doctrinal standpoint which happens to be in line with the traditional position of the Church (starting from the accusatory papers written by Leo XIII) derive the obvious practical consequences for all the Catholics who had joined the Free Masons. However there were many immediate objections to the Vatican’s statement concerning the supposed incompatibility of principles. Firstly for the brotherhood of Freemasons it is essential not to impose any ‘principle’ that might bind its members, whether it be a religious or a philosophical belief. On the other hand the aim is to gather together men of goodwill on the basis of humanistic values that can be understood and embraced by all, beyond the boundaries of religion and people’s personal outlook on the world.

According to this objection Freemasonry would actually represent an element of cohesion for all those who believe in God, the architect of the universe and who might feel bound by moral rules such as the Decalogue. Freemasonry would therefore not drive a wedge between an individual and their religion, it would actually bring them closer together. This objection bears many historical and philosophical implications and the Holy See responded with the Second Vatican Council that was glaring proof that the Catholic Church also promotes the collaboration between men of goodwill. To become a Freemason however goes beyond what can be described as a legitimate collaboration, it bears a deeper and more important meaning. The community of ‘Free Masons’ with its ethical demands is a progressive system of difficult symbols. The strong sense of the arcane that dominates the community gives even more weight to the relationship between symbols and ideas. Moreover this atmosphere of secrecy can expose the members of the brotherhood to the risk of becoming unwilling instruments in plots unknown to them. Angelo Orsi, an historian at the University of Turin, gave a revealing picture of the ‘Masonic issue’ and the controversial relationship between the compass and the Masonic uniform in an article published in Il Fatto Quotidiano on the 28th of August 2011.

He started with an attack on the director of Avvenire the bishops’ daily newspaper who accused the Freemasons of sounding like a ‘broken record’ in their supposed media campaign against the Church. But what ‘record’ was he talking about? Antonio Gramsci spoke only once in the Italian House of Commons on the 16th of May 1925 against the Rocco- Mussolini bill that banned ‘secret societies’. The bill was said to be against Freemasonry, Gramsci understood that it was only an instrument to outlaw all working class organizations as he remarked in his speech which was violently interrupted several times by the Duce and some of his henchmen. Freemasonry is acting like a small flagship carrying reactionary anti-proletarian goods’ said Gramsci, an orator with a small voice but strong mettle. He added: “Fascism will easily come to an agreement with the Freemasons”. And this indeed came to pass. Even though officially the Masonic lodges were disbanded, the Italian Freemasonry did not die. After all, some of its representatives had given substantial funding to Mussolini and his political movement facilitating his rise to power. “It is obvious” says professor Orsi “that two distinct currents can be detected, one for and one against Fascism (and pro democracy). Already in the past there had been clear divisions until the rift that would never heal which came about in 1908 (on the hot topic of the lay-status of the education system).”

“Even within the Church of Rome, that is openly hostile to the Freemasonry (and formally attacked by the latter more in words than in actions), there have been and there still are conflicting tendencies” said the expert “On one hand there is the Church of the ‘People of God’ , the Church of the humble and of the poor, on the other hand next to it, there is the hierarchical Church that is linked to political power and exerts true influence and power over all aspects of social life. This second Church, that was satisfied by and in turn supported the Fascist regime, was never opposed to that part of the Freemasonry that was close to the centres of power.” [This is confirming that freemasons have infiltrated the hierarchy of the Catholic Church, a very serious charge.]  If we looked into Catholic publications we would find heavy accusations against the ‘brothers of the square and compass apron’ (the Freemasons), but the same can be said for the opposite if one takes a look through Masonic publications and websites. This exchange between the Church and the Freemasons has mostly been a game of role-play where two seemingly unofficial powers in society have been fighting for leadership, often coming to ‘underground’ compromises, if not even formal agreements. But while the Freemasonry softened its line on the Church, the latter, which in recent times has backtracked over the excommunication of Catholic Masons, however keeps wielding its power against the Freemasonry especially in certain situations. The Church’s aim is to bend if not crush the Freemasonry, which is seen more as competitor than a dissenter.

In 1983, another declaration (signed by none other than Joseph Ratzinger who was then still Prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith and by the future Pope Benedict XVI) confirmed the incompatibility of the Masonic principles and the Catholic ones and stated that all Catholics who were members of Masonic societies could not take the Holy Communion. [This leaves no room for any Catholic to defend Freemasonry in any way.  To become a Mason is to become an enemy of the Church.]  This resistance was motivated not only by the secrecy surrounding the Masonic organization, but also by the lay values, the rationalism and ‘relativism’ of Masonic principles and by the constant participation of the ‘brothers’ in actions against the Church and the legitimate civil powers. Today in Italy the official Church, that of the Vatican and the CEI (Italian bishops’ conference), is a strong support for the political powers. “Faced with the disapproval of the public opinion, tired of the fiscal privileges that politicians have granted to the Church (a ‘ Black legend’ according to the bishops’ daily newspaper)” explains Angelo Orsi “ for the Church to even mention the secret power of the Freemasons is grotesque to say the least. Using the ‘Avvenire’s words, ‘it’s shocking’.”
As I have mentioned in other posts, we must always be testing the spirits, both inside and outside the Church.  But if you place your trust in our Blessed Mother and commit everything to her, you will not be deceived.  Her will is in perfect alignment with that of the Holy Trinity, and she will never allow you to be misled.  There is no human being on this earth that you can trust, including yourself.  But you can always trust Our Blessed Mother.
